No matter what I tried, some of the buttons on the N64 controller would work some of the time and the analog stick almost never worked. I also tried starting it with the switch in the other mode and then moving it to the N64 position after booting.

I tried plugging it in with the Wii off and the adapter in the N64 position before powering on. The adapter has a toggle switch, so I tried different combinations to make sure I wasnвЂ™t doing anything wrong. The first problem I ran into was with the N64 controller. All of the buttons on each of the systems were automatically mapped out perfectly and it was exactly like I was playing it on the original console! I canвЂ™t stress this enough: No setup at all, it just worked!!! No configuration, no setup, just literally plug and play. NES, SNES and Genesis (with the 3-button controller) worked great. Each time, I went through the same process: IвЂ™d use the Wiimote to navigate and select the Virtual Console game, then once the game launched, IвЂ™d put down the Wiimote, pick up the original controller and start playing.

To test the adapter, I plugged the adapter into my WiiвЂ™s Gamecube Port 1 and plugged each of the original controllers into the adapter one at a time. As a result, IвЂ™d recommend the other options listed on the main Wii Retro Adapter page. While it does work, you can notice a slight lag. When I wrote this review it was one of the only retro adapters available. This is a review of an adapter manufactured by Gtron that allows you to use your original console controllers on your WiiвЂ™s GameCube port.
